PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Monster hunters stalking all ends of the Japanese chart

You know what Sony really lacks? Killer series! Look at what the 3DS gets on a semi-regular basis, a million sales on launch from some noddy RPG series, which has a decent impact on hardware sales too. Hopefully Wonder Flick, Level 5's Vita (but multi-format) RPG will have similar success.

Back in Vita land, Freedom Wars passes 250K sales, while Sword Art Online has probably done the same including digital sales. God Eater 2 on budget clocks back into the chart, but its a couple of week's until Oreshika 2 and (my new soon-to-be favourite game) Operation Abyss will rock into the charts as the Vita's next 'big' things. Freedom Wars may get some legs from the upcoming net-play and difficulty fix patch.

01./00. [3DS] Yokai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke (Level 5) - 1.316.707 / NEW
02./01. [PSV] Freedom Wars (Sony) - 20.617 / 252.665 (-52%)
...
19./34. [PSV] Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment # (Bandai) - 2.925 / 222.886
20./00. [PSV] God Eater 2 (PlayStation Vita the Best) (Bandai) - 2.731 / NEW

On the hardware front, Vita sales doubled to over 40,700 (including 1,800 Vita TVs) as the new Super Value pack red and blue models landed on shelves. That helps keep the Vita miles ahead of the pack, expect for the 3DS which spiked to 62K sales thanks to Yokai Watch. That's the Vita's best performance since Hatsune Miku arrived in March. Will the new games coming keep it at that level, or will things soon dive back down to trend?
