PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

PS Vita Can Be A PS3 Display/Controller

Not sure why this is coming out so late after the Develop conference, but words from Sony's developer chat suggest that the PS3/Vita can be used in the same way that the Wii U's controller can. According to Sony's Phil Rogers:

“Here’s a few boring technical ideas: you could drive a display from a PS3 game, for example.  PS3 can send data down to Vita and Vita can display it. You could use the unique features – gyroscope, touch front and back – as a control device for a PS3 game. You can run software on both devices and use the network to sync the game states. And that’s pretty good, because you then have the processing power of PS3 doing that work, Vita [doing] fancy graphics – however you want to do it. You’re not sacrificing the PS3′s CPU to be able to have a rich experience on Vita.”
So, if you've got a PS3 great news, assuming you want to get a Vita but it'll take a whole lot of games to employ any cross-system features before it becomes anything like a key selling point. Perhaps, more likely, it will be integrated into PS4 as a fixed feature set.
